The 30 Hour Work Week

We don’t believe that we were put on this earth to work and work alone. There is so much more potential to inside each and every one of us.

By companies agreeing to the 30 hour work week, it will not only allow more people to be comfortably employed, but also the production of each company would go up. With less demanding work, and happier employees. Win win.

March 31st 1889

The strike action was initiated in March 31st 1889 after the introduction of compulsory 18 hour shifts, up from the previous 12 hours. Under the slogan of ” shorten our hours to prolong our lives” the strike spread to other gas works.

1869: President Ulysses S. Grant issues a proclamation that guarantees an eight-hour workday without a decrease in pay. But it only applies to government workers.

1880s to early 1900s: The movement to reduce a worker’s standard hours continues to grow. In 1898 the United Mine Workers win an eight-hour day. By 1905, the eight-hour workday was common practice in the printing industry.

1926: Ford Motor issues a five-day, 40-hour workweek for its workers in a newsworthy move by founder and business titan Henry Ford.

In a statement, Ford writes, “It is high time to rid ourselves of the notion that leisure for workmen is either lost time or a class privilege.”

1937: Auto workers from General Motors strike at a plant in Flint, Michigan, protesting working conditions. Negotiations between GM and the workers ultimately help reduce worker hours.

Groups of humans have always took to the streets demanding a better work week conditions. Back from the back breaking 100 hours that the governments had originally wanted. These freedom fighters had success, leading us into the forty hour week we know of today. We feel as though we can achieve even more success with a thirty hour week. Less stress and more time not only for yourself, but to spend with family and friends.

The hustle & Bustle of our society

As humans, Just because we have done something for years, does not mean we have done it correct. We have gotten ourself into a cycle of predictability and for the most of us, that needs to change.

Wake up each and every day with a sense of pride, and assurance that your stress levels are down, and your happiness is high. That you and your family have been taken care of. The bills have been paid with ease, and there is a money left over for that little trip you’ve been looking forward to. Imagine the possibilities!?!

With so much focus on money, it is hard to get a head in a capitalistic world.

The so called leaders need to realize this.

Lets change the way we view our economy and its growth.

It is time to speak up.
