Don’t be fooled by the title, I don’t really believe in all the hype that comes with the New Years Eve celebrations. Although, I can see the charm in getting dressed up, or not, getting together with friends & family, while you spend an evening out is tempting; but to me it just falls under the category of waste of time, not to mention money! After owning a bar for quiet some time, you would think it would be one of my biggest nights of the year, and perhaps you could be right. Just like a night out for you, it becomes also quite pricey for the person running the show, or signing the checks. Everyone wants to charge more. Could be the staff, the band, door prices, entries, whatever the case is, it just becomes too bloody pricey. For what? A night out with your friends or family!? Go see them on a Tuesday when their social calendar is a little slower. They’ll appreciate you for it.
I just wondered if I added a dash of this or a little of that, would my life change the way I had imagined it to? At the stroke of midnight even! Or did I have to change it myself? Was this possible? I believed so.
My business was to be sold within the next week. I had nothing really to do.
What would I do I thought? That question became both scary as well as very exciting for me. I wanted to get closer to the human race. Wonder what made them tick. Ask them why, we couldn’t all get along? What was the disconnect? Language? Media? Time? With so many questions, I sat out on my journey. First stop; Paris, France.
